Albendazole is a benzimidazole medication used for the treatment of a variety of parasitic worm infestations. It’s a broad-spectrum anthelmintic, effective against roundworms, tapeworms and flukes. The product is used for a wide range of diseases caused by parasitic worms including: giardiasis, trichuriasis, filariasis, neurocysticercosis, hydatid disease, enterobiasis and ascariasis, etc.

Potentially serious side effects include bone marrow suppression which usually improves on stopping the medication. Liver inflammation has been reported and those with prior liver problems are at greater risk. Common side effects include: nausea, abdominal pains and headaches.
